Share links with customers

How to send each customer their own link, and what someone sees when they open each kind of link.

Every customer has their own link. They open it, see your prices with their discount and place an order without creating an account. This is how to send it on WhatsApp and what happens when it is opened.

Send a customer their link

  1. Open the Customers screen and press Add customer. When you save, the shop reminds you to copy their link and send it.
  2. On the customer row, press Copy link to put the address on your clipboard and paste it wherever you like.
  3. Or press Send their link: WhatsApp opens with the message already written. If the customer has a valid number, their chat opens; if not, WhatsApp lets you pick the contact.
  4. If the customer has a number, there is also a WhatsApp button that opens their chat with no message.

What someone sees when they open the shop

In Settings, on the Who can see the catalogue card, the Catalogue access field decides what a person sees when they open the general shop address. It has two options.

  • Public: anyone with the address. Whoever opens the address sees the catalogue at list prices. Customer links still carry each customer discount.
  • Private: a code or a customer link. With an access code saved, a visitor who arrives without a customer link meets a code box and sees nothing until they type the code. With no code saved, only people holding a customer link get in.

The Access code is the same for everybody, four characters or more, and is not a password. A customer who arrives on their own link goes straight in, at their own prices, without typing the code.

Seller details

A public shop has to say who sells. Before it can be made public the Seller details must be filled in: registered business name, tax ID, registered address, contact email and privacy policy link. If one is missing the shop is not published and you are told which. You edit them in Settings, on the General tab, in the Seller details card, and they appear on every page of the shop, on the access code page and on the order page.

Choosing it when you create the shop

The setup wizard has an Access step with the same two options: Public or Private, with an access code. If you pick public, the step asks for the seller details. If you pick private, it shows the code once, so keep it and use Copy code. More in Create your shop and start the trial.

Good to know

  • If you change the code and save, everyone who had entered the old one is asked for the new one, and nobody is told why.
  • Regenerate link kills the old link at once: a browser still holding it becomes an anonymous visitor, at list prices. Nothing sends the new link for you.
  • The WhatsApp message is written in the customer language when their record has one, and in yours otherwise.
  • Preview shop opens your catalogue in a new tab, the way a visitor sees it.
  • To set each customer discount, see Prices and discounts.
