Prices and discounts

How prices, taxes and customer discounts work.

A customer on their own link sees your list prices with their discount applied. This is what you can set per customer, how to pick the tax model and when the recargo de equivalencia is charged.

A customer discount

  1. Open Customers and edit the customer (or create one with Add customer).
  2. Type a whole number from 0 to 100 in Discount %. It comes off every price this customer sees, through their link and on their orders.
  3. Press Save customer. The list then shows a badge like "15% off", or List prices if they have none.

There are no price lists per customer. Each customer has a discount percentage and, if you want, their own Tax rate.

The tax model

In Settings, on the Tax card, the Tax model field has three options:

  • This shop charges no sales tax: no tax and no surcharge are worked out.
  • Prices exclude tax, and it is added on the total: the stored price is the net and tax is added on top.
  • Prices include tax: the stored price already carries it; the total does not rise by the tax.

Changing model rewrites no price. It changes which side of the tax each stored number sits on, and the screen warns you with an example from your first product before you save. Each customer can also have their own Tax rate, or stay on Use each product's rate.

Recargo de equivalencia

  1. On the customer record, tick Charges recargo de equivalencia.
  2. The amount does not come from the customer. It comes from the Surcharge column of the tax rate that applies (each product rate, or the one you fixed on the customer).
  3. The surcharge is worked out on the net and added, separately from the tax, for each rate on the order.

Good to know

  • In the catalogue, when the discount changes the price of a product, the customer sees the discounted price and, beside it, the list price struck through.
  • Ticking it changes nothing if the tax rate carries no surcharge: the form warns that this customer will be charged none.
  • It also changes nothing while the shop uses the model that charges no tax.
  • In the Spain preset, 21% carries 5.2, 10% carries 1.4, 5% carries 0.625 and 4% carries 0.5.
  • Editing a rate percentage changes the price of the products and customers that follow it from the next order on; orders already received do not change.
  • A customer can declare that they pay the surcharge; you confirm it, and until then their orders do not change.
  • To send a customer their link, see Share links with customers.
